Lydia Ruffles is the author of The Taste of Blue Light  (‘A gripping Bell Jar-type narrative’ – FT) , for which she and her editor Polly Lyall Grant at Hachette were longlisted for the Branford Boase Award, and Colour Me In (‘You do not want to miss this novel’ – Heat). She is represented by Clare Conville at C+W Literary Agency.

Lydia writes and speaks on mental health, migraine, arts, and travel for Guardian, Sunday Times, Buzzfeed, National Geographic Traveller, Wellcome Collection, Metro, BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, BBC Radio 2, BBC 5 Live, various podcasts, and at literary festivals.

She has an MSc in Creative Arts & Mental Health (Distinction), a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations (Distinction), an Upper Intermediate Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language, and is a graduate of Faber Academy writing school. She paints and occasionally performs.

Lydia is also an award-winning communicator with 15 years’ public relations, internal communications, and crisis comms experience in industries ranging from the arts to financial services.

She is currently working on her third novel.
